Luxurious room, easy to navigate city, great shopping precinct with unique local wines in the bottle shop. Good shower, warm and comfortable room. Home-like TV room, rooftop with hammocks and barbecue, good view. Helpful bathroom layout with extra space. Equipped female room, comfortable bed with individual lamp. Key card access required.

Location, friendly staff, elevator.
$100 for a room with no sink, let alone no bathroom is much too expensive for one person in a youth hostel. The $100 room is huge - big enough to fit a shower/sink/toilet unit and then it would be worth $100 a night. This room as is should be no more than $50-$60 a night for a one-person stay. The room is in a noisy area/ noisy corridor.

Canberra City YHA is conveniently located close to bus stops, shops, eateries and tourist attractions. A variety of people stay at the hostel and the facilities available are quite adequate.

I really liked staying at this hotel. The location was perfect for exploring the city, and I loved the friendly atmosphere. There were plenty of common areas to relax, and the breakfast was delicious. I also appreciated having access to a swimming pool and sauna.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay.

I had a pleasant stay at the Village Hostels in Canberra. The reception was open 24 hours, which made it convenient for me to drop off my bag early. I also enjoyed spending time in the common room before heading out. The location of the hostel was very central, right next to the Canberra centre and only a short walk to the bus station. The best part was that the reception generously registered me for a free YHA membership that is valid for 2 years, allowing me to use it at YHA hostels around the world. It was definitely great value for money and I had a pleasant experience overall.

only the central location
Much too expensive for the standard of room. It was noisy, without any comfort or decoration, with not even a towel provided. I have stayed at YHA's all around the world for 30 yrs and cannot recall feeling less satisfied with the value for money. I was travelling solo this time, and I guess the private room, at $110 per night, may have been better value for a couple.

My room was bright and I enjoyed the tea-making facility. I also used the kitchen. The YH was central.
However, the pool (one of the main reasons for choosing the YHA) was cold. And the cafe/restau. service was very slow for a cup of coffee and muesli. The room was really basic without own toilet/shower ..... when I went after Canberra to Melbourne and stayed in Best Western, the price was lower! And there was a heated pool, and all facilities in the room. I doubt if I'll stay in YHA again, too expensive.

This hostel is a great choice for budget travelers looking for a central location. Guests can walk to nearby malls and bus stops. The rooms are well-organized, and showers are clean. Additionally, excellent facilities like a sauna, pool, and kitchen are available for guests.
Some amenities, such as the keycards, could be inconvenient for visitors.

Not much to like - This used to be a really nice place when it was owned by the waldof - now its a YHA its gone to the dogs
The whole place is pretty dirt as it is cleaned by backpackers... They allow anyone to stay there and don't police behaviour which meant I had to deal with a rampant alcoholic in my room and 'party' of severely drunk Australians being extremely loud all through the night and into the next day. Complaints to the management made no difference, nor did all the cameras they have around NEVER AGAIN

The location
That I had to change rooms every day and that I did not share any room with my friends even if we had booked together online 2 weeks in advance!

The location was great, right in the heart of Civic, there is free parking out the back after noon on saturdays and all day sunday. Quiet, with a great view from the top balcony. Secure (although we stayed in a private room), with clean working amenities.
You get what you pay for. There was no ensuite bathroom, but then the private room was half the price of any hotel in Canberra cbd. The room card did not work in the womans bathroom-it was a hassle to have to go down to reception to get the card fixed.

We loved the convenient location of this place, as it was situated near public transport that easily brought us to the city center. Being close to CANBERRA central where all the brand shops are located, including supermarkets, was a huge bonus. The hotel also provided amenities such as heating, air conditioning, and a terrace with garden furniture, ensuring enhanced comfort during our stay. Additionally, having access to a shared kitchen was a great convenience, allowing us to prepare our own meals.
We highly recommend this hotel to our friends.
